Sandhill cranes swarmed near Hershey Monday, resembling clouds of blackbirds at times, photographer Jim Tierney said.

Tierney, a North Platte resident and amateur photographer, took photos Monday morning as the cranes set their wings to land in the fields between U.S. 30 and North Platte River Road.
