Roman D. Reyes
Domestic assault and methamphetamine were tied together in the arrest of a North Platte man over the weekend.
Roman Reyes, 29, allegedly got in a fight with his domestic partner Friday night, and before it was all over, he was charged with three crimes, including drug possession.
Around 9 p.m on March 7, police went to a house in the 200 block of E. Ninth to investigate a reported domestic disturbance.
A 36-year-old woman said that, after an argument with Reyes, he struck her several times and forcefully held her down.
Following the investigation, police charged Reyes with third-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor that is punishable by up to a year in jail.
Then things got worse for Reyes. When he was searched during booking at the jail, some suspected methamphetamine was found on him, so he picked up the additional charge of possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Reyes was also charged with child abuse, because there was a child present during the domestic altercation, police spokesman Rodney Brown said Monday.
His bond was set at $10,000.
