There are 30 pro-life pregnancy care centers in Nebraska, including the women’s resource center in North Platte.
Nationwide, there are more than 2,500 of the centers, Gov. Dave Heineman said Tuesday as he commended their work.Heineman declared Thursday, March 6, as Pregnancy Care Center Awareness Day in the state.
The centers rely on voluntary donations and the time of individuals who are committed to caring for the needs of women and promoting and protecting life, according to Heineman’s proclamation.
Heineman commended the compassionate and exemplary work of the volunteers and paid staff at Nebraska’s Pregnancy Care Centers.
The Women’s Resource Center in North Platte is located at 316 East Front St. The website is www.pregnancynorthplatte.com.
The pro-life centers provide care to women and men who face unplanned pregnancies.
The centers offer women free, confidential, compassionate services -- pregnancy tests, peer counseling, 24-hour telephone hotlines, childbirth and parenting classes, as well as referrals to community health care and other support services, Heineman noted.
