Lady Irish advance past Sutherland at stateTell North Platte what you think

Brittany Lawrence scored 22 points to lead North Platte St. Pat's to a 42-33 win over Sutherland on Thursday in a showdown of Lincoln County rivals at the state girls' basketball tournament.

St. Pat's (21-4) will advance to play the winner of Friend and Arapahoe in the Class D1 semifinals at 9 a.m. Friday at the Sports Center.

Sutherland ends its outstanding season with a record of 20-6.

Sutherland led 16-15 at halftime, but St. Pat's overtook the Sailors in the third quarter and built a 27-22 lead on a basket by Bree Saner with about two minutes left in the third.

The Irish led by four, 30-26, going into the fourth quarter and stretched the lead to 8 points in the final period before Jalyne Schuster made a three-pointer to bring Sutherland to within five at 36-31.

But the Lady Sailors couldn't build momentum after the Schuster three. They had chances, as St. Pat's missed all three of its one-and-ones at the free throw line in the bonus. The Lady Irish finished it off with Anna O'Malley making free throws in the double bonus.
