Basketball: St. Pat's boys win district title in overtimeTell North Platte what you think

SIDNEY-The North Platte St. Pat's boys' basketball team punched its ticket to Lincoln on Tuesday by defeating Hemingford 60-59 in overtime to win the district championship.

Alex Harms, who led the Irish (24-1) with 17 points, scored the winning points as he made a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left.

In the state tournament, which starts on March 13, St. Pat's is the No. 2 seed in Class D1 and will play Clearwater-Orchard in the first round at 9 a.m. at Lincoln East High School.

Howells-Dodge is the No. 1 seed. Overton, the only team to beat St. Pat's this year, is the No. 4 seed.

It is the fourth straight year the St. Pat's boys have qualified for state. In 2011 and 2012, the Irish finished in fourth place at state in Class D1. Last year, they lost to Hartington Cedar Catholic in the first round.
