Challengers had until the end of the business day Monday to file for office, and four candidates did. In North Platte, Tracy Martinez filed for city council from ward 4.

In Maxwell, Todd McKeeman and Jeff Keith filed for school board. In Hershey, Jodi L. Seamann filed for school board.

In the most crowded race, three Republican candidates – Bill Henry, Ken Main and Ron Books – are on the ballot to represent district 3 of the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners. The primary election on May13 is decisive. Only one Republican will advance to the general election in November.

District 3 is generally the western half of Lincoln County. Incumbent Willis Roethemeyer is not running for re-election.

Three candidates are also in the race to represent Lincoln County in the state Legislature. They are Scott Dulin, Roric Paulman and Mike Groene.

In other races of interest, Cynthia Gutchenritter is challenging Jim Carman for a North Platte City Council seat. Lawrence Ostendorf is callenging Martin Steibeck. And, newly retired attorney James R. Nisley is challenging councilman Tim Barrett.
