The Downtown Association has elected officers for 2014. Mike Honerman of American Mortgage Company/American Agency is the new president. Michael Phillips of Adams Bank & Trust is the vice president. Kirsten Parker is the secretary and Josh Harm of NebraskaLand National Bank is the treasurer.
The board has two new members -- Alicia Tschetter-Brittanham of Western Title and Josh Harm of NebrasakaLand National Bank. Remaining board members are Chris Chada of Browns Shoe Fit, Lisa DeBord of The Quilt Rack, Alan Hirschfeld of Hirschfeld’s and Deb McNew of The Depot.
The Downtown Association strives to offer a voice and vision for the downtown area and provides events through the year, including but not limited to the downtown Halloween Walk, the Holiday Parade, Sidewalk Sales, Shop Local campaign, assistance with the Farmer’s Market, the Nebraskaland Days Sandcastle building contest and Prime Rib Feed.
“The downtown is a vital area of our community and I, along with the Downtown Association, are here to find ways to help enhance the downtown experience to encourage shopping local and supporting our local businesses in the downtown area,” Honerman said.
Downtown association meetings are held on the first Tuesday each month.The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday March 5 at the Depot, with a social beginning at 5:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for downtown merchants to network and learn of upcoming events in the downtown area, organizers say.
