Micah Koch of Hershey was convicted Monday of motor vehicle homicide in the death of Korey Huebner more than a year ago.

Koch did not contest the charge, and in exchange, the county attorney dropped a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing bodily harm.

On Jan 27, 2013, Koch was driving a pickup with Huebner and another passenger. Koch's blood alchol content was 0.21, prosecutors said. He missed a turn north of Sutherland and ran into an embankment.

Huebner, critically injured, was transported to Great Plains Regional Medical and then life-flighted to a larger medical center, but died of her injuries.

An autopsy confirmed that Huebner died from injuries sustained in the accident, County Attorney Rebecca Harling said.

Lincoln County District Court Judge Donald Rowlands set Koch's sentencing for April 28. He ordered a pre-sentence investigation and added that family members  of the victim could write to the court, describing the impacts on the family, before sentencing.

Motor vehicle homicide is punishable by 1-20 years in prison, a fine as high as $25,000, as well as restitution payments to victims.
