Austin M. Welch
Police went looking for a North Platte man Thursday because he failed to appear in court, and they found him with pipes, bongs and scales.
Austin Welch, 20, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
At 2:07 p.m., an officer went to the 100 block of South Chestnut, looking for Welch. He knocked on the door and another man answered, police investigator John Deal said.
Deal said during this contact, the officer was invited inside, at which time he smelled marijuana and saw drug paraphernalia in plain view.
Welch showed up and was taken into custody for the warrant. Deal said police obtained consent to search the rest of the house and found less than an ounce of marijuana, numerous items of drug paraphernalia including pipes and bongs, digital scales and packaging material.
Deal said the items belonged to Welch and another man who has not been found.
Welch was jailed on the warrant as well as the added charge of intent to distribute a controlled substance.
The case is still under investigation, Deal said.
