The North Platte St. Pat's and Sutherland girls' basketball teams will meet in the subdistrict championship game on Thursday after both teams won their semifinal games on Tuesday night.
The D1-11 finals between St. Pat's and Sutherland will be played in Gothenburg at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
St. Pat's is rated third in the state and Sutherland seventh by the Nebraska School Activities Association.
In the subdistrict tournament Tuesday, No. 1-seed St. Pat's Lady Irish (20-3) defeated Maxwell 59-44 to move into the finals. Maxwell ends its season at .500 with a record of 11-11.
In the match between the second and third seeds, No. 2 seed Sutherland (18-5) was victorious over Brady 57-50. Brady's season ends at 19-3. They were ranked 14th in the state by the NSAA.
The Irish have won both previous matchups with the Sailors. St. Pat's came out ahead, 34-30, in a regular season game in December and handed the Sailors a 45-31 loss in January in the South Platte Valley Assocation tournament.
St. Pat's also has earned some insurance. In case of a loss in either the subdistrict or district finals, the Lady Irish are ranked high enough that they might qualify for a wild card berth in the state tournament.
