Dennis Fornander, a history and government teacher at North Platte High School, will be a lead teacher on March 24 at a forum on America’s future at the state capital in Lincoln. Twenty-four Nebraska high school teachers will attend.
The program aims to engage high school social studies teachers and their students in discussion of the United States’ role in a changing international environment. It is presented by Humanities Nebraska in collaboration with the office of Secretary of State John Gale, according to the announcement.
On Feb. 3, the teachers gathered in Lincoln for an annual planning meeting. Jack Beard, assistant professor at the University of Nebraska Law School, led the teachers in a discussion of current issues in nuclear weapons including the recent Iran agreement.
Heidi Reinhart of Duchesne Academy will be Fornander's co-leader at the 16th annual forum.
