For three of the four quarters of the basketball game Saturday between the Hershey Panthers and the Chase County Longhorns, the outcome was in doubt.
Hershey started fast and led 16-14 at the end of the first period. In the second period the teams traded baskets, with the Longhorns outsoring Hershey 17-14 to take a 31-30 lead at halftime.
Chase County exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 23-9 and taking a commanding 54-39 lead.
In the fourth quarter, the teams again exchanged baskets, and Hershey was outscored by a single point, 19-18.
Despite the effort, the Panthers could not overcome the third quarter deficit and lost 73-57.
Next Friday, Hershey will travel to Grant to close out the regular season against Perkins County.
