A North Platte man who allegedly beat and terrorized his live-in girlfriend for six months was arrested early Monday morning.

At around 8:40 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a home in the 2500 block of W. 21st to investigate the report of a  28-year-old woman who said that her domestic partner, David Housman, 25, was holding her against her will and abusing her.

When police arrived at the address, they found the woman alone there, frightened that Housman would return. She was transported to the emergency room of Great Plains Regional Medical Center for multiple non-life threatening injuries, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.

The woman told police that she had been hit with objects, punched, kicked, choked and even burnt with a lighter over the course of the last six months. Officers returned to the home at around 4:30 a.m. Monday with a search warrant, and found evidence that supported the victim’s statements, Brown said.

Police also found a large amount of cash, just over a pound of marijuana, suspected methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia that is consistent with marijuana and methamphetamine use and distribution, plus firearms.

Housman was taken into custody, charged with 11 crimes:

• First-degree domestic assault (Class III Fel)
• Strangulation (IV Fel)
• Use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony (II Fel)
• Possession of a controlled substance - meth (IV Fel)
• Possession of more than a pound of marijuana (IV Fel)
• Possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (II Fel)
• Firearms and control substance violations (IB Fel)
• Money and controlled substance violations (IV Fel)
• First-degree false imprisonment (IIIA Fel)
• Terroristic threats (IV Fel)
• Possession of drug paraphernalia (Infraction)
