Police picked up a burglar Wednesday and found evidence that he was dealing methamphetamine.

Randall Leeper, 22, was seen in the Staples store around 6:45 p.m. and police were notified. Leeper was wanted for first-degree criminal trespassing and criminal mischief in Lincoln County, as well as a burglary in Hamilton County.

Police caught up with Leeper in the store and took him directly to jail, where he and his belongings were searched. The search turned up methampethamine, several hundred dollars in cash and contraband commonly used in meth distribution, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.

Leeper is held on combined bonds totaling $175,000.

Also, Jeffrey Manary was arrested Thursday, charged with strangulation, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

According to the police report, a 48-year-old man said Manary and he argued on Jan. 30 at a group meeting downtown in the 500 block of N. Dewey. Manary grabbed him by the throat and choked him.

Manary was on parole for meth distribution for his role in the death of a North Platte woman, Esther Smith, who overdosed in 2011. Manary allegedly supplied the drug. He was sentenced to 4-12 years in prison and served the minimum -- two years -- before his parole in July.
