To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the film, a large cast of students has been assembled. Elementary students will perform as munchkins, poppies and flying monkeys when the play is presented, March 7-9.

A week earlier, the cast will present a drama workshop for elementary students in grades K-5 on Saturday, March 1.

Characters from the production will help students explore the world of musical theater through crafts, theater games, choreography and snacks.

Students will have the opportunity to interact with the main characters and get autographs, learn about the process of putting on a production, dance on the NPHS Performing Arts Center stage and develop their acting skills.

The cost of the two-hour workshop is $20, plus $15 for each additional sibling. The workshop will be held from 9-11 a.m. Included in the cost is one ticket to the show.

Registration forms can be picked up from elementary school music teachers or by emailing Leah Purdy at lpurdy@nppsd.org. Registration forms are due Feb. 26.

The show will open at 7:30 p.m. March 7-8, plus a 2 p.m. matinee on March 9.

The large cast from the high school includes Allison Stoppkotte as Dorothy, Seth Mavigliano as the Scarecrow, Andrew Parish as the Tinman, Nathan McGahan as the Lion, Hannah Lee as Glinda and Kate Sterling as the Wicked Witch.

Tickets to the show are $8 for adults and $6 for students in grades K-12. They can be purchased in advance at the NPHS Activities Office, Riddles Jewelry, Westfield Pharmacy, and DaBuzz, or at the door before each performance.
