Soil health, cover crop forum set in North Platte Tell North Platte what you think

Farmers, ranchers and other ag professionals should RSVP now if they plan to attend one of more than 200 Cover Crops and Soil Health Forums taking place nationwide on Feb. 18.

Seating is limited at some locations.

The free forum will include a live broadcast of opening sessions of the National Conference on Cover Crops and Soil Health, followed by a facilitated discussion of local challenges and opportunities with using cover crops.

Opening session speakers include Howard G. Buffett, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Chief Jason Weller, American Soybean Association President Ray Gaesser and a panel of four leading cover crop users.

The broadcast will begin at 9 a.m. in North Platte at the Lincoln-McPherson-Logan County Extension office at the West Central Research and Extension Center (state farm) on East State Farm Road.

Visit www.SARE.org/covercropconference.org for more information about the forums. To RSVP, contact Colleen James at 402-437-4039 or by e-mail: colleen.james@ne.usda.gov.

Live streaming from the national conference will begin at 9 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive 30 to 45 minutes ahead of time for check in and introductions.

The Cover Crops and Soil Health Forums are organized in conjunction with the National Conference on Cover Crops and Soil Health in Omaha.

Both events are jointly funded by SARE and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, with planning support from NRCS, the Midwest Cover Crops Council and the Soil and Water Conservation Society.

The Omaha conference is invitation only. The local forums are open to the public.
