Mail: Help stop dolphin slaughterTell North Platte what you think

I am writing to you in hopes of bringing awareness to North Platte and surrounding communities on the dolphin slaughter taking place in Japan.

They round up whole pods of dolphins, corral them into a cove and slaughter them with knives and spears. They take babies from their mother's and the best looking dolphins and sell them to aquariums.

The images of what takes place in Taiji, Japan are horrific. These slaughters are inhumane and unnecessary as dolphin meat contain unhealthy amounts of mercury. This goes on for months and they kill around 20,000 dolphins per year like this.

I urge you to please take some time to look at some of the gruesome pictures and help save the dolphins. They sure don't deserve this kind of treatment. It's heart breaking to think all of this murdering takes place to make a buck.

Here are some links to websites with more information about Japan dolphin slaughters.

Here are some websites where people can get involved to work towards stopping the slaughter. There is a petition people can sign.
