Basketball: St. Pat's over MaxwellTell North Platte what you think

The St. Pat's boys' basketball team had no problem with Maxwell on Thursday in a 61-23 win at the McGahan Activites Center.

The Irish (16-1) scored the first five points of the game on a basket by Mark Mayfield and a three-point play by Alex Harms.

The lead expanded to double figures when Mayfield tipped in an alley-oop to make it 15-4 with a little under two minutes left in the first quarter.

Cory Clinch then got a three-point play with 21 seconds left in the quarter to end the 10-0 run for St. Pat's before Marcus Miller hit a three-pointer for Maxwell (2-13) to close the first.

St. Pat's really broke loose in the second quarter as Maxwell only scored two points in the second quarter. It was 32-9 at halftime before the Irish finished the Wildcats off in the second half.
