A homeless couple was arrested Thursday morning in North Platte and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

At around 11 a.m. Police found Payton Zambito, 19 and Elaine Moyers, 28, in the 1600 block of W. 10th.

Zambito had a record. He was involved in a disturbance Sept. 23 in the 500 block of East Second. At that time, police found several small plastic bags containing a white powder residue. Lab tests later confirmed that it was meth, according police spokesman Rodney Brown.

When the two were found Thursday morning, Moyers was carrying drug paraphernalia that field tested positive for meth. Following further investigation of Moyer, officers determined there was probable cause to also arrest her for possession of a controlled substance.

Zambito and Moyers were both taken to jail, charged with meth possession.
