Stolen pills nets felony chargeTell North Platte what you think

A woman was charged Friday with a felony after she allegedly stole items out of a purse from a patron at the Touchdown Club.

Police investigator John Deal said the purse had been stolen around 1:10 a.m. while a woman was inside the business. The woman suspected someone and called her on the phone.

The suspect, Donna Elliott, said she accidentally took the wrong purse and would bring it back. The woman told police that Elliott brought the purse back but it was missing some things, including a cell phone and prescription medications, so she called the police.

Elliot had left, but police got a description of her car, found it and contacted Elliot, who admitted she took the wrong purse. The officer and Donna went to her house, where the officer found prescription pills that belonged to the victim.

One of the medications was a scheduled controlled substance.

Elliot was arrested for theft and felony possession of the controlled substance. Her bond was set at $5,000.
