These classes will be held at the Prairie Arts Center.

The first of many one-session classes will begin Thursday Jan. 30 for adults. This particular class is already full so a second class is already set.

The one-session classes are for first-time painters who want to see what art painting is about and enjoy the fun of creativity.

In the Jan. 30 class, students will create their own painting with instruction by Sue Condon. The theme is Valentine's Day.

The second adult class is set from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6. The fee is $35 for Community Unity Arts Council members and $40 for non-members.

Children

Children in grades K-5 can also attend a one-session-class with a Valentine theme on Feb. 9 from 2-4:30 p.m. Kathy Wiede is the instructor. There is a limit of 12 children for the class. The cost is $30 for non-members of CUAC and $25 for CUAC members.

All one-session classes include necessary supplies (canvas, paint, brushes, etc.) Organizers ask students to provide their own smock or wear old clothes.

To sign up for this class or for more information contact Danielle Nichols at 308-520-2274.

College instruction

Also, Mid-Plains Community College will be offering a "Soup Bowl" class. The 1 credit hour class will be held on all Saturdays in February, starting Feb. 1 running from 9-12:45 p.m.

Soup bowl creations will be hand built and wheel thrown. The glazed bowls will be available at a “Soup Supper” and silent auction in March. The instructor is Dik Haneline.

And, there are still openings this week for the college's intro to sculpture from 6-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings

For more information call Mid-Plains at 308-535-3736 or 535-3600.

All classes will be held in the studio level of the Prairie Arts Center, 5th and Jeffers, North Platte. Enter through the northwest door.
