Norfolk overpowers BulldogsTell North Platte what you think

The Norfolk Panthers got out to a big lead in the second quarter against North Platte and they never looked back to win 73-47 at the Dawg House.

"I just felt like we never found the right tempo," NPHS coach Matt Kaminski said. "We missed a lot of shots and we had a lot of self-destructing mistakes that you can't make against a quality team."

Norfolk (12-1) led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter. But freshman Logan Strom made a three-pointer to give the Panthers some cushion and they were off to the races.

The lead became double digits at 24-13 halfway through the second quarter after a three by Tyler Hagedorn that followed a basket by Taylor Reedy.

With the momentum, Norfolk cruised. They led 37-21 at halftime and 52-31 at the end of the third quarter.

North Platte (7-6) with Drew Callaghan, who had a game-high 24 points, and little else just could not keep up.

"Norfolk's a quality team with a lot of good players," Kaminski said. "We competed hard. But we didn't play well when we got behind."
