A charge of 4th offense driving under suspension was dismissed in the plea deal.

Perez was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Jan. 6 when a Nebraska State Trooper saw his car on the side of the road at the intersection of Philip Ave. and Halligan Drive and stopped to assist. The trooper found that the car was reported stolen.

In court, Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling said that the car belonged to Staci Ponte of North Platte, who is now in county jail waiting to appear in both county and district court on drug charges. Perez did not have permission to use Ponte’s car, Harling said. She asked for jail time and Lincoln County Judge Michael Piccolo sentenced Perez to 30 days in county jail, with credit for 10 days already served.

Ponte also appeared in court Thursday. She is charged with possession of amphetamine with intent to deliver. Her case was bound over to district court. She is held on a $10,000 bond.

Ponte was arrested Jan. 2 in a room at Motel 6. When officers showed up she allegedly tried to flush some drugs down the toilet. Officers found baggies and drug residue in her room.

Ponte has a long list of charges. She was charged with possession of meth on Dec. 22. Previously in August, officers found paraphernalia in her car that later tested positive for meth.

Trembly

Also, Taylor Trembly, 25, of North Platte was sentenced Thursday by Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull to 90 days in the county jail for resisting an officer.

The sentence will run concurrent with a 360-day sentence from a Jan. 13 on felony drug and resisting convictions in district court.

The added sentence will make no difference in Trembly’s release date but goes on his record as a conviction.

The added sentence is for the same incident as the felony charges in August, when Trembly was arrested for running from police on his motorcycle.

After working through a plea deal with the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office, this charge remained a misdemeanor and therefore, it was handled in county court.

Sharp

Wesley Sharp, 40, of North Platte, waived his preliminary hearing on first-degree sexual assault of a child and the case will go to district court.

Lincoln County Judge Michael Piccolo lowered Sharp’s bond by half to $125,000.

Sharp was arrested on Jan. 9. Prosecutors think that Sharp digitally penetrated a juvenile girl at least twice on Jan. 5-6, with similar assaults during the previous three years.

Malsbury

Joshua Malsbury, 24, of North Platte, waived his preliminary hearing in county court on a charge of possession of heroin and was bound over to district court.

Malsbury’s bond was lowered to $7,500.

On Friday, Malsbury was charged with possession of heroin and bupreorphine after a Nebraska State Patrol lab test of drug paraphernalia was complete. The paraphernalia was seized in September during a traffic stop.

The possession of bupreorphine was dismissed in a plea arrangement. Malsbury expressed concern in court about that charge because it had been reported in the media. He was worried it might show back up and create more trouble for him.

Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling assured him the charge was dismissed.
