Twenty-four railcars jumped the track Monday at Bailey Yard, but none of them tipped over.

Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis said the derailment happened at 7:15 a.m. near the west trim yard, where trains are assembled to head to western destinations. The west trim yard is on the north side.

No main lines were affected and no one was injured, Davis said.

The cars jumped off the track on a "pullback" track, where lines of railcars are slowly pulled out of the trim yard and pushed back for further sorting. The cars were a mix of types and held a mix of contents.

Crews and caterpillars from Hulcher Services a few blocks away responded and began setting the cars back on the track. By 1 p.m., about a half-dozen cars were reset and pulled away from the area.

The cause is under investigation, Davis said.
