Lynn Williams, 52, North Platte, has been promoted to captain in command of Troop D Headquarters in North Platte of the Nebraska State Patrol.

Williams replaces Jim Parish, who retired Dec. 31.

Prior to accepting his promotion, Williams was a lieutenant in the investigative services division, stationed in North Platte.

A 30-year veteran of the State Patrol, Williams has served in both field operations and investigative services. He attended leadership in police organizations training at the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy. He is also the president of the Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center board of directors in North Platte.

Troop D patrols 23 counties in west-central and southwestern Nebraska, covering nearly 21,000 miles.

Nebraska State Patrol Spokeswoman Deb Collins made the announcement Jan. 2.
