North Platte law officers are getting new mobile radar units and in-car camera systems, the governor’s office announced Monday. The Lincoln County sheriff’s office will receive the radar units to equip their cars. The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety is contributing $1,800 toward the cost.
The North Platte police department will receive two in-car cameras as well as alcohol testing equipment, thanks to a $7,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety. The money stems from federal highway alcohol safety funds, according to the announcement.
“this funding and the ongoing persistence of law enforcement personnel continues to impact alcohol-related crashes and the resulting injuries and fatalities,” said Fred Zwonechek, the state highway safety office administrator.
