A North Platte woman was arrested at the end of New Year's Day and charged with child cruelty.

A police officer went to the 900 block of East Third shortly before midnight to check on a prior disturbance, police spokesman John Deal said.

The officer met a 13-year-old and several witnesses who accused Terry Boles, 44, of assaulting the teenager during a disagreement about cleaning up a mess in the home. According to the police, all parties interviewed agreed that Boles dragged the teen up the stairs by the leg and then hit the teen with a closed fist several times in different areas of the body, including the face.

The teen had injuries to support what occurred.

Boles was contacted a short time later at a motel and arrested.

Boles was temporarily staying at the home where the alleged assault occurred, but she is not related to the apparent victim, Deal said.
