Snow is likely early on New Year's morning, mainly after 5 a.m., but only a couple inches will accumulate, the National Weather Service in North Platte said.
Cloud will increase during Tuesday night, with a low around 15 and calm wind becoming east-southeast at 5-9 mph, according to the forecast.
The chance of precipitation is 60%, mostly before before noon Jan. 1. The high on New Year's Day is expected to be near 30.
Light and variable winds will become north-northwest at 9-14 mph in the morning and could gust as high as 20 mph in the afternoon.
The low Wednesday night will be around 9 degrees. Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high near 39. However, a chilly west wind will blow and keep the wind-chill in the single digits, the weather service said.
