A donation account is set up for Tori Koubek of North Platte, who died tragically on Christmas Eve.

Koubek leaves four children and a husband, Shanon Koubek, who is a state trooper. Tori’s heart gave out while she was helping a cow, Fancy, deliver a baby calf at the couple’s home south of Lake Maloney. She died around 10:30 p.m.

Her friend Heidi Weir said Tori had just returned to the house to tell her husband that the calf was on the way. She died as she headed back out.

“She was a great friend. She loved taking care of kids and animals,” Weir said. “She would do anything she could for anyone who needed help.”

Koubek was a volunteer North Platte fire fighter and an in-home daycare provider. She graduated from North Platte High in 1996.

She was diagnosed with a heart condition 11 years ago, Weir said, but had been doing fine. She did not have life insurance because of the condition.

Contributions can be made to an account in Tori Koubek’s name at First National Bank of North Platte.
