North Platte Elks Lodge 985 will hold the annual Hoop Shoot contest on Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Adams Middle School gym.

Action starts at 2 p.m.

All students ages 8-13 are invited to participate in the contest, to see who hits the most of 25 free throws.

More than 2.5 million students participate in the contest every year across the county. The North Platte lodge has held this contest for more than 30 years.

The winner and the runner up of each age group receive a trophy. The winners will advance to shoot at district competition. If they win at districts and continue to win, they can advance to state, regional and national competition.

Girls shoot first at 2 p.m. Boys shoot at 3 p.m.
