The North Platte Jaycees are hoping the North Platte community is still in the giving spirit on Dec. 27, when the Jaycees team up with the American Red Cross for the second year to host the Mistletoe Magic Blood Drive.
Historically during November, December and January, fewer donors take time to give blood because of competing seasonal activities, celebrations and travel plans. Yet patients don’t get to take a holiday from needing blood, said April Oppliger of the American Red Cross.
The blood drive is from noon-6 p.m. on Dec. 27 at the McKinley Center, 301 W. F St., North Platte. To make an appointment, call Amanda at 308-660-6709 or visit redcrossblood.org.
As a special thank you, those donate blood will receive a commemorative long-sleeve Red Cross T-shirt and a coffee gift pack courtesy of Da Buzz and Red Cross while supplies last.
All blood types are needed to ensure an adequate blood supply during the holidays, especially donors with type O negative, A negative or B negative blood.
Hospital patients in Nebraska and across the country may benefit from people who make the time to give blood at the Mistletoe Magic Blood Drive on Dec. 27.
How to donate
Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.
