Jasen L. Westlake
A Menardís employee is accused of stealing a check from the store's office and retuning later to buy merchandise with it.
Police spokesman John Deal said at 2:44 p.m. Thursday, an officer went to Menards on a report of employee theft.
A Menard's manager told investigators that a customer had returned nearly $800 worth of lumber, and Menardís generated a check to reimburse the customer instead of giving cash back. The customer was to receive the check Friday.
Meanwhile, the check was in a Menardís office. Investigators believe that employee Jasen Westlake, 31, took the check while he was working.
Deal said Westlake returned while off duty and used the check to buy nearly $800 worth of merchandise.
Westlake is charged with theft of more than $500 and less than $1,500 which is a felony.
