An overhead camera shows the Christmas beauty of downtown, Cody Park and Candy Cane Lane, thanks to the machinery and work of an anonymous donor.
The video was created for the Lincoln County-North Platte Visitor’s Center. It was shot from a camera fastened on a remote controlled miniature drone.
Decked out in Christmas lights of red and green, the drone took off on Dec. 12 from the bricks downtown on Dewey St. and flew above the parade. It also flew around Cody Park, above the carousel area, through the archway at the entrance and took a peek inside one of Santa’s workshops.
The video closes with a long look at Candy Cane Lane, North Platte’s most concentrated residential Christmas light display.
The complete video is now posted at lower right of the front page of this website.
“Christmas is a beautiful time of year no matter where you are, and North Platte is no exception,” the visitor’s center said.
The contributor insists on being anonymous, Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director Lisa Burke said. Other videos and photos have been shot too, but the Christmas vid is his most ambitious so far, she said.
