The North Platte High School boys' basketball team suffered another cold night from the field on Friday and the Bulldogs fell 60-39 to Lincoln East at the Dawg House.
"We're playing pretty good teams and we're just not getting the momentum we need," NPHS coach Matt Kaminski said. "When you play good teams, you need to make plays and we're just not getting the spark."
With just over a minute left in the first quarter, Lincoln East (2-1) broke out to a 14-9 lead after a basket by Craig Olson that followed a Shane Watteyne three-pointer.
In the second quarter, the Spartans expanded the lead to double figures and they led 27-17.
The Bulldogs (1-2) started to show some life in the third quarter and they cut the lead to 34-28 after Kade Erickson made a baseline jumper from 10 feet. Both teams traded baskets the rest of the third and it remained a six-point game going into the fourth quarter.
But in the fourth, East broke away again. The Spartans took a 49-32 lead with just over five minutes left after Bryson Metcalf hit a three.
The Dawgs never got within single figures again and they lost their second straight game at home.
North Platte will play at Omaha Bryan on Saturday.
