Erik L. Brian
A North Platte man was picked up and arrested Saturday, four months after police found what appeared to be a meth pipe in his possession. On Aug. 8, police went to the 600 block of East Second on the report of a man, Erik Brian, 29, breaking into vehicles.
They found Brian and charged him with the thefts. During a search he was found in possession of a clear glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.
Brian served seven days for misdemeanor theft.
Again in October, he was arrested and charged with shoplifting and being a fugitive from Dawson County. He served 11 days and was released to "another jurisdiction" -- presumably Dawson County, according to sheriff's records.
Meanwhile, the Nebraska State Patrol lab tested the pipe and found it was positive for meth. Consequently, on Dec. 7 an officer contacted Brian at a Kwik Stop on East Fourth, where he was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
He was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center. In court Monday, his bond was set at $25,000.
