The North Platte High School boys' basketball team never really got on track on Saturday and the Bulldogs fell 58-42 to Omaha Creighton Prep at the Dawg House in the championship game of the Platte River Classic.
NPHS coach Matt Kaminski said he liked his team's effort but it was doomed by the lack of success shooting from the field.
"Everything was there, we just didn't make shots," he said.
With a little under two minutes left in the first quarter, Creighton Prep (2-0) established itself with a 10-4 lead when Chad Witecy scored on a backdoor layup.
In the second quarter, the Junior Jays stretched the lead to 20-9 on a basket by Drew Homa that followed a Tommy Pritchard three-pointer.
Prep led 23-15 at halftime and the Bulldogs (1-1) never really challenged in the second half as the Jays answered NPHS everytime it tried to make a push.
