Teen charged with first-degree sexual assaultTell North Platte what you think

A 19-year-old North Platte man was charged Tuesday with a sexual assault that allegedly happened last summer.

Police spokesman Rodney Brown said police responded on July 10 to a complaint about sexual assault involving a 14-year-old girl and Isaac Macias, 19.

The two were acquainted and formed a closer relationship from around May to July, Brown said.

Following a lengthy investigation, investigators found probable cause to arrest Macias due inappropriate sexual touching and the age difference between the two.

Macias is charged with first-degree sexual assault. He was arrested and jailed Tuesday. He faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

To make the charge stick, the state has to prove that the actor subjected the victim to sexual penetration, not intercourse. The issue is whether the defendant achieved even the slightest penetration, according to state statutes.
