Nebraska State Troopers issued 235 citations and warnings for seat belt violations as well as 29 child restraint citations and warnings during the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” campaign Nov. 24-Dec. 1.
The special enforcement encompassed the heavily traveled Thanksgiving holiday week.
One person died on Nebraska highways during Thanksgiving week. The fatality occurred in Pawnee County. Comparatively, there were two deaths over the same time period in 2012.
The following statistics reflect statewide activity by the NSP during the “Click It or Ticket” campaign.
• 235 seat belt citations and warnings
• 29 child Restraint citations and warnings
• 39 driving under the influence (DUI)
• 1,179 speeding citations
• 35 open container
• 56 driving under suspension (DUS)
• 51 no proof of insurance
• 325 motorist assists
Troopers and Communication Specialists worked overtime hours during the campaign, paid in part by a $20,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS).
