In a reflective moment on Thanksgiving, I thought of all the people Paws-itive Partners has to be thankful for.

I was thinking about media. It occurred to me if we made plans for a big party but didn't send invitations no one would know about the party and no one would come. It's kind of like that for Paws-itive Partners and the media. We can come up with ways to help animals but without your help we wouldn't be able to get the invitation out to the public.

A week ago, Paws-itive Partners brainstormed on increasing adoptions of cats and kittens at the city animal shelter. We came up with ideas and media did the rest You spread the word! I'm so happy to tell you that almost 20 cats and kittens were adopted from Monday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon. All those pets went to homes to celebrate Thanksgiving with their new families.

I was at the animal shelter Wednesday when a woman arrived to look at cats.

Her pet died three weeks earlier and she said her heart had been empty ever since. The woman adopted an adult cat and she and her new cat, now named Oscar, looked like they were going to make a great couple.

Cats and kittens will continue arriving at the shelter as strays and surrenders. To help the shelter get through their overload, Paws-itive Partners is offering $50 gift certificates toward spaying and neutering newly adopted cats and an anonymous cat lover donated $10 toward the adopter's $20 adoption fee. These financial offers will continue through Dec. 6.

Feel free to mention this to your readers again.

Thank you for helping us help animals at North Platte Animal Shelter. We couldn't do it without you.

With appreciation from all of Paws-itive Partners,

Jo Mayber, North Platte
