Internationally acclaimed pianist to perform Tell North Platte what you think

Dr. Ann Chang, a noted classical pianist, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, at the Neville Center at 5th and Bailey.

This is the second concert in the North Platte Concert Associationís 2013-14 series.

Chang has been featured in concerts and recitals in Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Croatia and Argentina. Also she has played in celebrated U.S. venues in Spokane, Chicago, San Francisco, and Portland, Ore. as well as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Chang is the artistic director of the Lied Center for the Performing Arts in Lincoln and is director of the University of Nebraskaís Arts Entrepreneurship Program.

She has a doctorate of music in piano performance from the University of Indiana in Bloomington. As an artist-in-residence at the University of Nebraska School of Music, she teaches both undergraduate and graduate piano students.

She was a Fulbright scholar in Brussels and she was founder of the Meadowlark Music Festival. As part of this festival, several chamber music ensembles have performed in North Platte.

The corporate sponsors for Chang's appearance are Billís U-Save Pharmacy and Family Medicine Associates.

Next year, concerts in the current concert series will include the Sons of the Pioneers on Feb. 28; Tribute to ABBA on March 18; and John Davidson on May 19. All concerts are at 7:30 p.m. at the Neville Center.

Admission to concerts is with season memberships in the series, which are still available. Memberships may be purchased from the secretary of the North Platte Concert Association -- Pat Hoban, 1412 West 4th St., North Platte, NE 69101. Hoban's phone is (308) 534-4699. Memberships are $50 for adults and $100 for families. Student memberships are $15. Special patron memberships are also available.

Memberships will also be sold at Ann Chang concert on Dec. 2 at the Neville Center.

Season membership in the North Platte Concert Association allows reciprocity with the Cozad, Kearney, McCook, Holdrege and Grand Island concert associations, so members can attend concerts in those communities at no extra charge.
