Cluster of thefts on the Bulletin crime map

Thirty-some thefts and burglaries were reported to the North Platte Police Department in five days from Friday-Tuesday, mostly in the central-northwest part of town.

Police spokesman Rodney Brown said Wednesday morning that most of the items were taken from cars, even cars parked in garages.

"The complaints to date have consisted mainly of smaller amounts of cash, change, mp3 players, wallets, and so forth," Brown told the Bulletin.

The suspects appear to be focusing on quick and easy targets that during early morning hours, then they move to the next one, Brown said.

Police encourage residents to make sure all valuables are removed from vehicles and the vehicles are locked when not in use.

"This is a practice that should be followed not only at a time as now but all the time," Brown said.

If you see any suspicious persons or activity, call the police non-emergency line 308-535-6789.
