Madison and Adams middle schools would get new names under the recommendation of a group of North Platte parents and school employees that sixth graders attend the Madison building in the future.

The school district has released a summary of the recommendation (posted at right. Click on image to enlarge or print.)

If the board approves the change, it is possible that Kids Klub after-school programs will be added at the buildings for supervision.

Although more money would be needed for buses, drivers and after school programs, taxes will not increase, the summary says, but it does not provide details.

The middle school buildings will also get new names, according to the recommendation. The names of Adams and Madison would be dropped.

The committee will officially present its recommendation to the school board on Nov. 26. The board is expected to discuss it for two weeks before voting.
