Around 8 p.m. Sunday, Nebraska Game and Park conservation officers called 911 and said that a vehicle hit one of their patrol trucks and then fled.

When deputies arrived, they found the conservation officers had detained Jimmy Williams, 53, the alleged driver.

The Game and Parks officers said three patrol vehicles were parked in a driveway at 11013 East State Farm Road, all with their lights on, as the officers conferred about a case they were working on.

An eastbound vehicle traveling about 40 miles per hour missed the turn and entered the driveway, according to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s report. The car nearly hit two officers who were standing outside of their pickups, then hit the rear a patrol truck.

Williams, the driver, was ordered out of the car but he refused to get out. Instead, he sped off and the officers gave chase. After a short chase, Williams was again stopped. This time, he was forcibly detained, the sheriff said.

When deputies arrived, they asked Williams to perform field sobriety maneuvers, which showed he was impaired.

He was charged with driving under the influence and taken to the Lincoln County Jail, where a breath test indicated his blood alcohol content was nearly two-and-a-half times above the legal limit.

Williams was charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an accident. Bond was set at $5,000.

Williams was also charged with drunk driving in 2010, according to sheriff’s records.
