Sean R. Odean
Suspected burglar Sean Odean of Hershey reportedly confessed Wednesday after he was charged for breaking into a house in Sutherland on Monday. A Sutherland man, Shane Rasby, told police on Monday that his home at 1010 Locust had been burglarized, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators found several items had been taken from the house, including cash and electronic devices. The man’s neighbors told investigators they saw a slightly built man in a compact white pickup at the house during the time the items were stolen.
On Wednesday, a North Platte police officer stopped a pickup in town matching the description, driven Sean Odean, 30, of Hershey.
Odean was driving on a suspended license and had a substance that is suspected to be methamphetamine with him in the pickup. A sheriff’s deputy arrived and found electronic devices in the pickup that exactly fit the description of the items stolen in Sutherland, the sheriff’s office said.
Under questioning, Odean admitted that he stole the items, according to the sheriff’s spokesman. Odean was arrested, charged with burglary.
In court Thursday, Odean was also charged with possession of codeine. He asked for a public defender and his bond is set at $25,000.
