The Golden Spike Tower and Visitors Center has a new executive director, Kirsten Parker, who has helped coordinate community events for six years with First National Bank.

The president of the Spike's board of directors, Jeanie Gilbert, announced Parker's hiring Friday.

Parker has worked at First National Bank, where she organized and publicized a variety of public efforts, including the Relay for Life, the United Way kickoff, Jaycees fund drives, North Platte public schools foundation as well as events held by the downtown association.

Parker will officially begin her new job on Dec. 1. Gilbert said the Spike board is pleased to welcome her. Parker said she is excited.

“There are so many possibilities and opportunities for the Golden Spike and I am really looking forward to joining the staff and volunteers to help it enhance and grow for our community.” she said.

JoAnne Hoatson, the outgoing Golden Spike executive director, will help with the transition.

“I have worked with Kirsten on a few committees in the past. I believe she’ll be a great fit,” Hoatson said.
