Early Wednesday morning, a semi-truck hauling garbage from North Platte rolled onto the passenger side in a road ditch near Grant.

The one-vehicle wreck occurred around 7 a.m. The truck was bound for J Bar J landfill.

The accident happened at the intersection of Road 325 and Road 771 near Grant.

The driver, Fred C. Kline, 46, of North Platte, suffered non-disabling injuries to his shoulder and arm. Kline was taken to the Perkins County Health Services by the Perkins County Emergency Services, according to the accident report.

Perkins County Sheriff James Brueggeman said the loaded truck was west bound on Road 771, approaching the intersection and preparing to turn south on Road 325 when the front wheels hit ice on the road and skidded.

The truck slidinto the road ditch, rolled onto the passenger side and spilled part of its load.

The damage to the 2001 International tractor and the Wilkins refuse trailer is estimated at $15,000.

Cline was wearing a seatbelt. Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, but the investigation revealed that the driver was traveling too fast for conditions, Brueggeman said.

J Bar J Landfill is a regional solid waste landfill, operating under a permit issued by the state for the disposal of municipal solid waste.
