Cory J. Rowan of North Platte is in jail and Christopher Herring is wanted in connection with a burglary at Winfield's Coffee at the corner of B and Dewey.

At around 3 a.m. Wednesday, police went to Winfields’s (202 S. Dewey) to check out a reported broken front glass window.

Officers found the east, main door shattered, and the cash register was stolen from the building.

Officers found the missing register and drawer nearby in the alley. A suspect, Christopher Herring, was identified through surveillance video.

Earlier that morning, Herring was cited for shoplifting stemming from a complaint on Oct. 29, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.

Around 3 a.m., Thursday, police talked with Cory Rowan, 22, about the Winfield's burglary, and found probable cause to arrest Rowan for the burglary.

Herring is still on the loose.

Police ask anyone who knows Herring's whereabouts to call 308.535.6789 or anonymously leave their information through Lincoln County Crime Stoppers, 308.534.8400 or toll free 800.933.TIPS.
