Attention parents of Maxwell school students in grades 1-6: Over the years, there has been discussion of starting a Maxwell youth wrestling club right here in Maxwell. The interest has always been strong. Letís make this a reality.
We have been offered the use of the Maxwell Village Hall at no charge.
We have secured pledges of assistance from Maxwell wrestling coaches and former wrestlers living in the area. We have been offered the use of a wrestling mat.
The Maxwell Village Hall is small, yet it is large enough to teach and sharpen wrestling fundamentals to a limited number of young wrestlers. We would likely encourage our club members to attend youth wrestling meets in the surrounding area. We would ensure that a qualified coach is available at these meets to be mat side for your young wrestler.
We likely would start practices in January and run through March. We are getting the word out now because youth wrestling clubs in North Platte have started to offer registration for the upcoming season.
We would require a modest fee to be part of the club and may purchase team singlets and a hoodie for the wrestlers.
We encourage you to discuss this activity with your child, regardless if they are an experienced grappler or they have never wrestled. We welcome input about the project and seek a few parents that would be willing to help manage and coordinate the team.
Letís have an organizational meeting in the next few weeks for all interested parents of a Maxwell youth wrestler. This can become a reality.
