Teenager found dead in camper (UPDATED)Tell North Platte what you think

A 17-year-old boy, Chandler Snyder, was found dead in a camper-trailer late Saturday morning near the corner of Philip and Griffith, on the east side of North Platte.

An autopsy on the body was conducted Monday, and there were no signs of trauma to the body, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.

Brown said toxicology tests will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Details have not been released. Brown said Monday it could take weeks for the toxicology results to be final.

Police were called to the camper at 11:25 a.m. Saturday to investigate the death, where they found the teen, Sgt. Gary Hovey told the Bulletin Sunday.

Hovey said the investigation began promptly.

“We’ve talked to a lot of people,” he said Sunday afternoon.

“We start out with the presumption of homicide,” he said, “but as of today there is no evidence of that.”

KNOP-TV reported that death could have been from alcohol poisoning, based on a statement from a family member who owned the camper.
