St. Pat's kicker boots 58-yard field goalTell North Platte what you think
Drew McClellen

Drew McClellen hit a school record 58-yard field goal Thursday night, with help from a strong wind, to give the St. Pat's Irish a 10-point cushion in a football playoff battle.

McClellen's kick came on the final play of the first half against Cambridge and put the Irish ahead, 10-0.

McClellen said everything just came together on the attempt.

"I couldn't have done it without my holder, snapper and line," the junior said. "I was really nervous, but we've practiced (field goals) a lot. You've just got to play to the wind and hope for the best."

About five minutes into the second half, McClellen showed off his toe some more, hitting another field goal from 42 yards out to put the Irish up 13-0. And he also hit a third one later in the third quarter.
